After pulling an all nighter last night (after work my F/T job..) I FINALLY got my new rig built!!!!!. My first complete build from the ground up, and dont think I did too bad. I built a custom 3.2GB P4 with 280GB of storage.
Not too bad considering I have upgraded from a 1.8GB with 512MB, and a total of 120GB of storage. I built this with a mixture of some parts from my old PC, and new purchases. I still have to get video but since I have already spent some decent bank on this new set up already I had frugal on this (for now)...As you can imagine...the old lady has not been happy with all the $$ spent....but expected it, and besides a lot of the bank that I have spent came from my umpiring money.
I didnt spend on new video but I did score a decent deals on other items. Like on RAM - FRY's had a 1GB stick that was on a 2 day sale for 89.99 and I get to send in for a 20.00 rebate for that. Not bad, considering their next sale started the next day and the cost went up 10.00, and 512 was 69.99.
Since FRY's finally put a store in Indy 2 weeks ago, I have been a frequent customer! They have had some kick @$$ deals out there and I couldnt pass them up! The only thing I didnt pick up there was the case itself. I got a BETTER one from a small computer store that I have been friends with the owner for years. He cut me a deal for 20.00 bucks off on it! And it is pretty sweet! Now that this is built....I have been thinking about getting a stencil set and putting a small "BMF" logo on it! B/C it is beautiful!
I had some slightly frustrating moments during the build -- like the prob I thought I had with all my power hook ups for all the CRAP I got stuffed in there:
420W POWER SUPPLY Hook ups:
6 Fans
a Triple venting Fan that goes in one of the 5 1/4 bays
HP Lightscribe DVDRW+ drive
52X CDRW
80 GB HD -reformatted from my old rig
200GB HD -that I once again scored another deal @ Fry's for 69.99
2 HD FansAudigy Platnimum Drive
at that point I passed out at about 6 am or so...(did I mention that I might have had some assistance from my tasty beverage of the evening; Crown & Pepsi....)..........but when I woke back up around 9:30, and after a cup of coffee I backed out all my hook ups and started over, and figured it out.
Plus the fan on my Processor has a light on it, and is Xbox green and a neon blue fan on the side access in the center that matches the embedded fan in the front of the system. It looks really sharp if I do say so myself. Will post a pic soon.
