Blog Shift -Going forward ONLY MUSIC!

LATEST POST UNDER PLAYER

Friday (Black Friday) 11/23/07 - 7:30PM:

Ok.....until now..I have not been sure what to use this blog site for...previously I shifted from Sports and Yankees stuff....to Video Games.

Well as of today....going foward.....I have decided to change my blogger site strictly to my love for music.

So I will start with what I have been up to lately:

About a month or two ago, my buddies Jerry and Rich have been jamming at an open mike night on the Southside...and had suggested I come up to join them..so I did. Had a cool time. Sang Everlong, and Times Like These. Didnt get to go on until really late, and with it being a work night, the thing that sucked was I had to get out of there as soon as I was done singing. Jerry still hangs up there but a couple of weeks ago, asked me if I wanted to check out the open mike/stage night sponsored by Don Stuck from X103 with his band and Acoustic Stew.

So, for the past couple of Saturday's; Jerry has been coming down to my place to jam with his Acoustic Guitar so we could work on a couple of tunes. One thing he got me really liking is a version of Thank You by Chris Cornell that I really want to do live!!! I about flipped when I heard it, and immediately started to learn it.

We have been working on that a little (i'm ready to try it at least...) along with the Acoustic versions of Everlong and Times Like These and our own acoustic arrangement of Pinball Wizard by the Who.

So we met up there and......I had a FUCKING BLAST!!! Jerry and I sitting there with our first beer, and it was not long before Stew came over and introduced himself. Big country looking dude...but a very cool dude just the same! Wound up making good friends with him that night, I think...

After Don's band rocked the house Jerry and I followed an act of three dudes..2 with acoustics and a drummer. They seemed pretty cool. The lead singer was this big dude and he seemed pretty cool. Gave me props and I returned them.

Jerry and I killed the first two songs.....did Pinball okay I guess....and I only say that because being the overly critial of my voice, vocalist that I am ...I thought I was off an octave...but still got props from people...and saw some people enjoying our jam.

So afterwards, Jerry and I are just hanging out....after a while and someother jamming on stage...Don and his band get back up and rock out some more. Some point after a while he's talking on the Mike and starts building up suspense...and asks for a volunteer to come sing a tune with the band...after building up more suspense about it, he finally says its 'RoadHouse Blues' by the Doors.

At that point, my head felt like Hiro from the TV Show "Heroes" when he freezes time. To touch on some of my bio...I have song this song about a dozen times on stage. One of my all time favortes in fact to sing live....with a band!! I have killed with this song once at the Slippery Noodle - (Long time ago) once in Nashville TN ...to name a few...

So, no sooner I hear this my hand is flying up in the air - looking like fucking Arnold Horseshack, looking for Mr Kotter to finally pick me to answer that question!

So Stew, who was up with Don see's me, points at me and says "C'mon and get your ass up here and sing it!!!" At this point I leap over three sets of chairs in the way. and get up and long story short....rocked it out. When I finish...Don turns to me and asks me if I want to do another...and if I know Black Crows Hard to Handle. At that, I am like hell yeah! Let's do it!!! I and KILLED it with them!! What a fucking rush!!! Crowd of people on the dance floor, boogie -ing to our sound!

Im not going to bore with more details...other than to say...that I was called back later again to do a few more...and hooked up with Don. He told me to email him so we can swap out song lists....and asked if I would meet up with him at their next gig to sing!!!!! WOW! Fucking sweet, right?!?!

So I just sent Don the following email.....hopefully he remembers me and answers...

Hey Dude!

First off.....hope you and your fam had a cool Turkey day yesterday and ate and drank a lot like mine did!!!

Well...dude...let me tell ya...my buddy Jerry and I really had a f--ing killer time hanging out and jamming with you Wednesday night!

Attached is my song list you had asked me to send you. Let me just say I have such a love and passion for music that it is really hard to try to nail down a list.....hell..I could have written the damn thing for a couple of hours!!!

You will notice that my list starts of with a lot of old school VH..and I would be lying if I didnt say that wasnt on purpose! To this day, I still dig orginal, early VH sound . DLR had a hell of a voice....I was only like 7-10 yrs old when they were that hot back then with the brown sound of Eddie..and didnt see them live. Until I saw live videos with DLR dancing around acting like a total ass clown and occasionally signing (in between prancing around like he could care less about lyrics people paid to hear him sing) did I realize that DLR the voice was cool but the person was a total jag off.......

Anyways that hopefully explains why so much VH here.....but of course that certainly does not mean my interests are in just what I have listed. My interests in fact are very diverse and I like just about anything.

Looking forward to the list you said that you were going to throw back at me.....

I'm sure you are a busy dude....so hope you can get back to me before Sat so that I can try to brush up on whatever tunes you want to rock on w/ me.

Peace and Rock & Roll!

Peter Griffin plays Duck Hunt?

Here's a new one that I just came across.
Peter Griffin, meets Duck Hunt - in a Street Fighter esque type of game.
I remember Family Guy doing something like this in a episode, but this is definitely different. Wonder which came first? Must be like the whole Chicken and Egg thing....

Anyhow..

Gotta love his super gas move and how he gets the dog for laughing at him. Who ever did this should have made the dog look like Brian.

Funny.....but also makes me wonder "who comes up with this shit, anyways?"

Screech has a bad day

OMG!

I about fell out of my chair laughing too hard at this.....and in light of recent events (to which I will be blogging about soon as I get the emotional courage to do so....) I really needed a good laugh.

Warning: a bit of foul uncensored language here... ( you may want to pause the music playlist below before playing)

Tunes

Effective 11-8-07 the music player I had introduced originally in this post will be moved to the top of every new post going forward.

This is so you can turn that shit off if you wish or pick one of the tunes in my playlist.

I personally got tired of scolling down to f- with it anymore...
